LeBron James is at About 40,000 Points – How Many in Cleveland?

LeBron James is about to score 40,000 points in total for his career. He is, of course, the leader in that stat with Kareem Abdul Jabbar next with 38,387. I was curious how many of LeBron’s points were scored in Cleveland with the Cavs compared to the Heat and Lakers.

Here is what I found:

“James scored 23,119 points across two stints with the Cavaliers.

He spent the first seven seasons of his career in Cleveland, tallying 15,251 points before he took his talents to South Beach. When he returned to his home city in 2014, James put up another 7,868 points in a Cavs uniform over four seasons.” -Sports Nation

James scored 7,919 points in four seasons with the Heat and 8,953 points (and counting) in six seasons with the Lakers, his current team. Huge totals will each team…

The craziest part is that this is Lebron’s 21st season and even though he is now 39 years old, the man continues to play outstanding basketball for the Lakers. Subsequently building on this milestone of all-time scorer moving forward.

The only active players that are in contention (sort of) are 9th-place Kevin Durant at 28,342, 22nd-place James Harden at 26,000 and 25th-place Russell Westbrook at 25,092.

Those aren’t even close to LeBron’s total.

Thus, it doesn’t seem like any player will contend for this record and it’ll likely stand for decades to come if not forever.

Cleveland fans loved LeBron, hated him and then loved him again. It’s important to simply appreciate his greatness as a basketball player because there may never be anyone like him again. This 40K milestone is just another example of it all, frankly.

Saturday night, the Lakers play the Nuggets at 8:30 pm on ABC and LeBron will likely reach that goal. It’s amazing to think that the majority of those came in Cleveland as a member of the Cavs.

Maybe the eventual leader is just a little boy watching the basketball game at home.

There are countless memories that we will all certainly never forget as fans of the team we love. Looking back, it really is amazing to remember his entire career and the ups and downs that came with it.

Now, it’s simply a matter of how large James will make that total number before finally deciding to retire in the future. With the way it’s looking, LeBron may end up playing many more years of basketball because he doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon despite his age.

Maybe just maybe he will reach the 50,000 mark…we never truly know with this legend.
