LeBron: I Wish “Player Coach” Was A Thing…

0

Let’s be honest.

When LeBron James is a player on a team, who is really in charge? The coach? Yeah, right. LeBron was honestly the man calling the shots all of the years in Cleveland and everybody knew it.

Looking into the details of a “Player Coach” and this is what I found:

Via Wikipedia: “After the salary cap was instituted in 1984–85 season, the NBA has prohibited teams from employing a player-coach. The ruling was established to avoid the possibility that a team would circumvent the cap by signing a player as a player-coach, as coaches’ salaries are not counted under the cap.”

With the Cavs just firing JB Bickerstaff… WANT DETAILS ON THAT CLICK HERE!!!!

The team is going to look for someone who makes not only star Donovan Mitchell happy, but the idea of replacing the coach with something that could bring said LeBron James back to Cleveland for his final years.

I’m a big fan of this idea that “the players play.” Yes, there are instances where the coach makes the right play call or served as the mentor to the team and such. I harken back to the movie “Miracle” and the speech coach Brooks gives to Team USA that’s very inspiring. However, it takes the front office building the roster that allows the team to win with the talent it has on the floor.

So, how cool would it be if LeBron was not only the player on the Cavs but also the coach? I think that if there was any guy capable of doing the job it would be that man.

Since it’s not possible do to the rules, I’m hiring the guy that Mitchell wants to stay and James would like to return.

But in that huddle during a timeout, no matter who the team picks we know LeBron is going to say what LeBron wants to say. He may not have the title of “head coach” but we, once again, know the truth.

Now, it’s just a matter of bringing The King home again.
