Kluber Deserves Some National Attention

0

Corey Kluber has been unhittable lately and today’s start wasn’t anything different. Kluber pitched 7 innings, didn’t give up a run, struck out 9 and walked 2. According to Tito this has been coming. He said, “This is not a shock or suprise. This has been coming.” It’s truly an amazing thing in baseball when every 5 days a pitcher takes the mound that you know he can go deep into the game and give your team a chance to win.

Kluber’s stat lines have been looking pretty great. This year he is 5-3 with a 3.10 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, a 83/17 K/BB ratio in 72 2/3 IP. That’s pretty good. Not to mention today he took the lead of SO in the MLB with 83, but was over taken by Price later in the afternoon. He is still up there with the best in SO, Cueto, Price, Verlander, Hernandez, and Lester. Those are some pretty good names to be with.

So far, Kluber has loved the month of May. He has a 2.02 ERA with 48 SO in 5 starts. Also today, this was his 5th straight outing with at least 8 SO. He keeps proving that he is the best pitcher in Cleveland. He should be crowned the ace of the Indians, but he doesn’t think so. “Masty’s our ace” Kluber insists, he is leaving that title for the Indians Opening Day starter, Justin Masterson.

Let’s hope that Kluber will continue his dominance on the hill. The Indians have been lacking a true ace, and Kluber can fill the hole. His .355 BABIP shows that’s he’s been unlucky lately. It suggests that he will get better as the year progresses. Sure there are better pitchers in baseball, but he deserves some media attention for sure. Hopefully he can be that pitcher that no one expected to be up there with the best.
