Kipnis Scheduled For Return On Monday

The Indians’ second baseman Jason Kipnis will begin his rehab assignment tonight with AAA Columbus.  Kipnis is slotted to play in tonight’s game and tomorrow night’s game with the Clippers.  On Sunday, Kipnis will rest and receive medical evaluation.  The Indians have reported that if he says that he feels like he is ready to return and the doctors clear him medically, he will meet up with the Indians in his home town of Chicago. Without any setbacks, look for Kipnis to be in the lineup on Monday against the White Sox.

The Indians’ Mike Aviles has posted .747 OPS since Kipnis was shelved. Aviles has provided excellent play in an everyday role at second base and has provided his team with numerous clutch hits during his stint replacing Kipnis.  Justin Sellers will most likely be sent back to AAA Columbus when Kipnis is recalled on Monday.
