Kevin Porter Jr. Out 4-6 Weeks With Knee Sprain

Cavs rookie Kevin Porter Jr. suffered a non-contact knee sprain against the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 5. From the second it happened anyone watching could tell it was not going to be good. The reports are that Porter Jr. will miss 4-6 weeks with the sprain. At least it’s not season-ending…

The rookie should be able to return sometime in February.

Obviously, health concerns come first, but looking at this from a basketball standpoint and it’s not like the Cavs are fighting for top-playoff seeding. Thus, the loss of Porter Jr. hurts team morale and such, but this season is somewhat of a wash.

KPJ had been averaging 8.5 PPG (43.9%), 3.3 RPG and 1.9 APG in just under 22 minutes a night. Look for recently-acquired Dante Exum and Brandon Knight to fill in for KPJ while he’s out.

It’s tough to see anyone hurt, but especially a rookie just blossoming into the NBA Game. CST and Cavs fans hope for a speedy recovery! We want to see our guy back on the floor!
