Quoted earlier on in the week on how he thought he would be greeted, Kevin Love replied with “Booooo”. Coming off a night where Love got his “mojo” back with 23 points and 10 rebounds against the Sacramento Kings, Kevin Love experienced the visitor side of the Minnesota Timberwolves facility. Love was greeted with boos, and earlier on in the week trolled by the PR group of the Timberwolves by which they created a video to commemorate the return of SG Mike Miller who played for the Wolves in 2008-2009. However during the game, the Timberwolves took time to thank Kevin Love for his time on the team and his charity work off the court.
Having had experienced the same situation but in a much bigger degree of hostility, LeBron James was able to help out teammate Kevin Love in his return to Minnesota. Although Love was showered with boos, Kevin started the game out hot hitting his first couple shots. Love did tonight what he’s done for years in the Target Center, that’s dominating the boards, offensively and defensively. Love finished the night with 6 offensive boards and 11 defensive boards against his former team. Love filled it in with 14 points as well and turned in another double-double.
Love’s recent play has shown that, when needed he can show up. Many thought that trading Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love was a stupid move, but it was shown tonight that once again it doesn’t matter who Love plays, he’s gonna dominate the boards. The Cavaliers with recent trades have obtained very skilled guards. Getting a rebounding machine like Kevin Love is a once in a decade type of thing. Going forward the hate shouldn’t be anywhere near where it was tonight, although it wasn’t very much to begin with. Thanks for the “Love” Minnesota.
