The free agency talks for LeBron have definitely cooled off since the summer. It’s become pretty evident LeBron is not going to give any outright clues as to what his intentions are for the offseason. Everything right now regarding his free agency is complete speculation, so you definitely need to take that into consideration when you hear the comments made by Jalen Rose.
All that being said, I share the same thought process as Jalen right now. When you look at LeBron’s previous decisions, he’s always made them based on where can he go to play on the best team for the most amount of money. Cleveland is where LeBron could sign a maximum contract, while also still building a super team that’s in the Eastern Conference. There isn’t a better fit in the NBA if he’s looking solely to accomplish those two things.
Now, as far as the playing till his son is in the league, I’m very on board with that. I’ve said it multiple times. In fact, I’d 100% be ok with the Cavs signing him right now. His son is a beast. That’s one way to guarantee LeBron won’t leave. That’s worth the investment in my mind.
So, while I don’t think we can use Jalen’s comments as a guarantee LeBron’s staying, I think it’s fair to assume Cleveland is the favorite to re-sign him right now.
Jalen Rose reacts to LeBron James’ revealing comments about retirement, and says LeBron wants to play until his son is an NBA prospect.
