Right before the final game of their first-round playoff series, Isaiah Thomas learned that his sister Chyna had tragically died in a car accident. After leading the Celtics to a victory over the Bulls, he immediately flew back home for her funeral. He returned to Boston just days later for an extremely emotional Game 1 of their series against the Washington Wizards.

In a game most people wouldn’t have been able to play, Isaiah Thomas’ scored a game-high 33 points. Nobody would have blamed him for not playing, but as his team’s best player, he didn’t want to put his team in a tough situation. This is a prime showcase of his unreal level of mental toughness.
