Injury Bug: SP Trevor Bauer Its Latest Victim
The Indians are getting hit by the injury bug as we get dangerously close to playoff time. Now, there’s still time for full recoveries, but this team cannot afford to sustain any more serious injuries. Slugger Edwin Encarnacion is on the DL with an arm injury, Leonys Martin almost DIED with a horrific bacterial infection that will keep him out indefinitely (wishing him the best) and now Trevor Bauer is on the DL with a right fibula stress fracture.
On the year, Bauer was 12-6 with a 2.22 ERA and in contention for the AL Cy Young. He struck out 214 batters before getting struck by a line drive in his last start in a bad spot.
Trevor Bauer is an interesting dude. He’s very outspoken, stuck in his ways and it’s clearly paid off for him. I respect his work ethic and drive to get better because this year it has shown just how good a pitcher he can be.
Frankly, the Indians must get healthy before the postseason if they want any chance to win a World Series.
As we hit the middle of August, the body starts to wear down as the at-bats grow. Summer is slowly starting to turn to fall and baseball is a very long season. The Indians are luckily in a great position in their division and will be able to rest their players accordingly 12.5 games ahead of the division, especially when September call-ups occur.
Get well soon, Tribe!
