Indians Trade With Red Sox For C Sandy Leon

After the Browns absolutely took the heart and soul out of Cleveland on Sunday, the Indians have attempted to at least distract us fans for a bit. The team made a trade with the Boston Red Sox for catcher Sandy Leon.
The Tribe gave up minor league right-hander Adenys Bautista. This is a youngster, age 21, that has only pitched in the minors.
Leon, age 30 and heading into his 8th year, batted .192 with five home runs and 19 RBI. That was in 172 at-bats last season.
A career .221 hitter, Leon will serve as the backup catcher for the Indians behind Roberto Perez.
No, this isn’t a huge move. However, it gives the Indians a backup catcher and that can be beneficial throughout a long and arduous season.
Lastly, Leon will make 2.8 million this upcoming year. Then, he will become an unrestricted free agent.
