Indians @ Red Sox – Key Takeaways

Is Corey Kluber the Real Deal?

Don’t get me wrong here, Corey Kluber is one of the strongest aces in baseball right now and will more than likely finish 2nd behind Chris Sale for the AL Cy Young Award. On almost every day of the week, he’s the Indians’ best pitcher.

But Kluber always seems to fail to live up to the expectations placed on him. He doesn’t seem to be able to get it done on the big stage. This was evident in Game 7 of the World Series in 2016 and Game 5 against the Yankees in 2017. The same thing happened in the first game of the seires where Kluber gave up three runs to the Red Sox. While ceding three runs in six innings against the Red Sox is not bad by any stretch, the important fact is that these three runs came in the first two innings. That can lead to a nasty snowball effect.

Hopefully, Trevor Bauer is ready to go come postseason.
