Indians Minor League Weekly 6/1

Columbus Clippers

The Clippers had a nice week. They split the series with Charlotte, and took 3 out of 4 against Louisville. They were able to sweep the double header on Saturday. The Clippers scored 9 runs in the home half of the 8th, and Tyler Cloyd went the distance and pitched a complete game only giving up 3 ER and struck out 5 and picked up his 2nd win on the year. Salazar continuing to struggle in Columbus. He is now 0-3 with a 7.11 ERA. He only went 4.2 IP on Friday. He gave a up a home run and struck out 5.

Akron Rubber Ducks  

The Rubber Ducks offense was on fire this week. Scoring a total of 38 runs over 6 games. LHP Shawn Morimando pitched a gem making his first Double A appearance. He pitched 6 innings, didn’t give up a run and fanned 6. The Rubber Ducks are now 35-21 and in are in 1st place in the EL West. The Rubber Ducks are off to a great start to the season, and not minding the name change.

Lake County Captains  

The Captains had a rough week. They lost 2 out of 3 with South Bend and Great Lakes. The highlight the Captain’s week was pitcher Dace Kime. He 5 innings only giving up 2 runs on 1 hit and striking out 1.

MINOR LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Indians minor league play of the week is Rubber Ducks OF Tyler Naquin. He went 13-30, posting a BA of .433 and knocked in 4 runs and scored 8. He had a 4 hit game followed by a 3 hit game. He is a top prospect for the Indians, he was our 12th overall pick in 2012.
