Indians Decline Raburn’s Option
The Cleveland Indians announced Wednesday that they are not picking up Ryan Raburn’s $3 Million dollar option for 2016, making him an unrestricted free agent. Raburn is now one of four Indians to become free agents this year joining SP Gavin Floyd, UT Mike Aviles, and reliever Ryan Webb.
Raburn hit a career-high 16 home runs as a member of the Goon Squad in 2013 when he helped lead the Indians to their first playoff appearance since 2007, and aside from an injury-plagued 2014 season, was relatively productive in his time with the Indians. Raburn’s departure will open up a roster spot for either a free-agent signing or the promotion of a prospect such as Tyler Naquin, or James Ramsey.
Raburn spent three seasons in Cleveland.
