The Indians announced Sunday night that they will be making a pair of roster moves on Tuesday.
They are sending down SS Jose Ramirez who failed to post a .200 batting average, and has played sub-par defense so far for Cleveland in 2015.
They will be calling up Zach Walters (who hasn’t been all that spectacular in the majors this year) to fill a bench role, while Mike Aviles will likely take over the full time shortstop position until Francisco Lindor is back to being healthy in AAA. Lindor will likely get the call up when this happens.
The Indians also announced that they will be promoting 3B prospect Giovanny Urshella to the majors for the first time in his career. He is the Indians’ #12 overall prospect according to MLB.com. The slick-fielding infielder will turn 24 this October.
Lonnie Chisenhall will be sent to the Clippers to make room for Urshella. He was hitting just .209 in 50 games in CLE this year.
