The Quarterback Challenge
It’s fair to say Brady is a legend. He has five Super Bowl titles, 14 Pro Bowl nods and, of course, 3 MVPs. But, he’s 41; can he bring any more to the game?
In contrast, the Rams have 24-year-old Jared Goff making his first appearance at the Super Bowl. If he and the Rams can pull off the seemingly impossible then he could be the one lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Youth appears to be on the side of the Rams, their coach, Sean McVay will be the youngest Super Bowl coach in history. That could be just the positive omen the team needs to end the Patriots winning run.
However, it’s worth noting that the Patriots offensive line is doing a remarkable job of keeping Brady on his feet; he’s barely got his uniform dirty this season! The Patriots know the importance of keeping Brady protected and calm; their sole aim s to create a force field around him and prevent him from getting rattled.
Even the Chiefs only managed to knock him down once, the Rams are going to have a huge task ahead of them.
But, perhaps the real issue is the pass rush that was demonstrated so well in the Patriots game against the Chiefs. This kept the pressure on Mahomes who still performed well, but not well enough to beat Brady.
Mahomes is considered the obvious successor to Brady, if he can’t manage to beat him yet then you’re going to have to question whether Goff will be able to.
Your money is probably safest on the Patriots. Brady has an amazing ability to get the ball exactly where it needs to be. There is no obvious sign of this talent or the ability to throw waning. Whether he’s doing quick outs, mid-range or long distance he will make it extremely difficult, if not impossible for the Rams to find the gap they need.
How good can Brady really be at Super Bowl 53? He’s on top form and producing moves that will become legendary; there really is no limit to how good he could be.
