With a quarter of the season gone, it’s a sure bet nobody saw 0-4 coming. Whether it’s lack of talent from the players, or the coaching, it’s just not there. I know it seems a little early to start bracing for 0-16, but unless some major overhaul of what’s been going on takes place, that may be a sad reality to face. With that being said, as far as I see it this is where I think the most improvement is needed on this team.
It’s sad to say, but I think Hue Jackson’s time here is running dry. I’m usually against firing a coach this early in the season, but looking at how last season went, and how this one is going, something has to shake. In my honest opinion, I just don’t think he has control of the team; I don’t know why that is, but it is a major concern.
As far as I’m concerned, the Kenny Britt experiment was a bust. He doesn’t even look like he wants to play out there right now, and the rest of the receivers, whether it be Coates, Higgins, or the others, have not stepped up either. Our running game isn’t strong enough to make up for the discrepancies in this area, and improvement will be needed ASAP.
As of now, the running game is nonexistent. Currently, there are only 261 yards posted in the total column, ranking 25th in the league. Isaiah Crowell has had some moments, but altogether that is another huge gap in the offense.
Even if it wasn’t a constant struggle to put points on the board, our defense isn’t doing too good of a job of giving us opportunities to stay in the game as it is. Even though they’re currently in the top half in total defense, they still are allowing around 25 points per game, and that won’t get the job done.
