3.15.14: The Monster hit the road to take on the Charlotte Checkers. In the first Period the Checkers put their stamp on the game with goals from Sean Dolan and Chris Terry, the checkers held the lead throughout the first period. The Monsters clawed back with goals from Trevor Cheek and Stefan Elliott which lead to a tie game to end the second period. As we headed to the third the monsters came out with the will to win but the Checkers just fund a spark and started the fire. The Checkers score the games last three goals in the third period to seal a 5-2 victory over the Monsters. The goals are credited to Danny Biega, Brett Sutter, and Aaron Palushaj.

3.16.14: The Monsters And Checkers took to the ice once again in Charlotte. With a hard loss in the previous game the monsters opened the scoring door, as Trent Daavettila tipped in a rebound from Karl Stollery to give the Monsters a 1-0 lead. In the opening three minutes of the second period Chris Terry of the Checkers scored the equalizing goal. The monsters rallied and Mark Olver scores the last goal of the second period. The two teams were dead locked at 2-1 until Rasmus Rissanen of the checkers tied the game at 2-2. The Monsters got it together and got the game winning goal from Brett Clark of the Monster. With strong defense the Monsters held their 3-2 lead to finish the game.

upcoming: three game home stand; 3.19 vs Toronto, 3.21 & 3.23 vs Rochester

Playoffs? Currently the Monster are sitting in 14th place, 10 points behind the 8th seed and 11 points behind the 6th and 7th seed. The Monster have two big games vs 7th seeded Rochester. The Monsters final games are all against teams ahead of them in the playoff seeding, like Doug Plagens has said, “its a marathon not a sprint” and the Monsters need to stay in the race.
