This just in: The Cleveland Guardians have traded 27-year-old SS Amed Rosario to the Los Angeles Dodgers for struggling starter Noah Syndergaard.

Rosario started his major league career in 2017 with the Mets. Here is 2023, he’s averaging .265 with three home runs and 40RBIs.

Syndergaard, age 30, started his major league career with the Mets as well back in 2015. In 2023, the right-hander is 1-4 with a poor 7.16 ERA. In 55.1 innings pitched, he’s allowed 44 runs, 71 hits along with 12 home runs and nine walks.

The Dodgers placed Syndergaard on the 15-day injured list with a blister on the index finger of his right throwing hand. This coming in early June of this season.

The Guardians are hoping that Syndergaard can find what he had in 2018 on the Mets with a 13-4 record and a 3.03 ERA.

Players that need to step up on the Guardians now even more:

Andres Gimenez (.241, nine HR 38 RBI), Gabriel Arias (.188, four HR, six RBI) and Tyler Freeman (.295 average, no home runs and five RBI), amongst others.

Keep in mind Guards ace Shane Bieber is on the 60-day injured list and this will serve as a replacement for the time being. Cleveland could also trade Bieber – that remains to be seen.

Let’s look at what else the 51-51 Guardians do with the trade deadline being on August 1. Despite losing a piece in Rosario, it appears the Guardians are buyers being only two games out of first place with 54-50 Minnesota at the top right at this current moment.
