Unfortunately, earlier today, the Browns announced the releasing of former Pro Bowl and fan favorite linebacker Christian Kirksey.

The six-year player will be let go after an unfortunate end to an otherwise brilliant run. While he did log 73 total games, he only appeared in just nine over the last two seasons, calling into question durability that was otherwise perfect for his first four seasons. Over that time, Kirksey recorded two interceptions, four forced fumbles (three of which he himself recovered) and 11.5 sacks to go with 484 total tackles.

Allegedly, Kirksey was offered the opportunity to stay with the team should he agree to a pay cut. As one can clearly see, that did not come to fruition. Additionally, it seems that Kirksey himself was animate about the attempt by the Browns brass and one might say both sides mutually parted ways.

Just a few hours after his release, Kirksey reportedly is already attracting interest from the Washington Redskins. Given his talent, it is highly likely he finds a new team and city to call home before terribly long.
