First off, I’d like to say congratulations to George Hill for graduating! I know he’s definitely reading this.
For those who haven’t heard the story yet, since the Cavs had a few days off after sweeping the Raptors, George Hill was able to attend his college graduation ceremony at IUPUI on Saturday. He earned his degree from their school of Liberal Arts.
Hill is the first member of his family to graduate from college.
I love hearing about NBA players going back to school to earn their degrees. It’s great the team had the time off so he was able to attend his graduation, especially because he played a crucial role in their sweep of the Raptors. Putting basketball aside though, this is a fantastic achievement for him. College is difficult for anyone, but the graduation rates for first-generation college students are staggeringly low. It’s awesome he’s been able to find time to complete all his school work during his extensive schedule as a professional athlete. He’s been an excellent role model for younger generations his entire career and this is just another example of that.
Also, this tweet is hilarious.
