Use a Later Pick to Draft a Second Quarterback
Some are probably wondering why the Browns should draft a second quarterback, here’s why. Both players will sit behind Tyrod Taylor this year and learn how to be a professional. Also, they will have opportunities during the preseason to show what they can do. Best case scenario is that the quarterback drafted at #1 becomes a star. When that happens, the player drafted later has some tape on him and in a year or two can be traded away much like the Patriots did with Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo. Worst case scenario is that the quarterback drafted at #1 does not become a star. Then there might be an opportunity for the player drafted later to get some playing time, much like when the Redskins drafted both Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins in 2012.
