Five Reasons the Cavs Need to Not Tank

#1 – It’s Hard to Get Out of the Cellar

Look at the teams currently trying to get out of the cellar, Orlando being one of the biggest culprits of this. The Magic haven’t finished higher than the 11th seed since superstar Dwight Howard left the team after the 2011-2012 season. The Magic blew their team up and fired their head coach and haven’t sniffed a playoff seed since then, although the past few seasons they have started out scorching hot only to falter before January. Just look at the NBA odds for a championship run this season.

Tanking is a good idea until you are unable to hit on your picks, which has been a problem the majority of the time for the Wine and Gold. The Cavs selected Kyrie with the first pick back in the 2011 draft, but the pick wasn’t even Cleveland’s but instead was the Clippers with an astronomically low chance of being number one in the draft. Teams like the Phoenix Suns tank every year and then blow their chance at selecting greatness when they draft horribly. Phoenix drafted Alex Len instead of drafting the Greek Freak and Rudy Gobert.
