He was Versatile
Versatility by itself is not a reason to be in the Hall of Fame, however, when you look at what Matthews did in his career it is another reason why he should be in. During his career, he played in a 4 – 3 and a 3 – 4 defense. He also played as an outside linebacker and an inside linebacker. He could have easily had over 100 sacks had he been given the opportunity like other players to just be a pass rusher, but that was not what was asked of him.
