The off-season is upon us and while the Indians are not expected to be players for the big time free agents like SS Manny Machado or OF Bryce Harper, they do need to make some moves to improve the team. Here are five moves that are realistic for the Indians to make.
1. Trade Away Jason Kipnis
2B Jason Kipnis has struggled the last few seasons and it is time to cut ties with him. This is a good time to trade him as he is signed for 2019 and has a $2.5 million buyout for 2020. Kipnis could use a change of scenery due to his lackluster numbers the past two seasons. Compensation for Kipnis would be low and the Indians may have to give whatever team they trade Kipnis to some monetary compensation, but it might be well worth it.
