The state of Ohio is a staple stopping spot for professional wrestling. Promotions like the NWA, AWA, WWE, WCW, ECW all make it a point to stop here in Cleveland at least two to three times a year.

What you may or may not know is that Cleveland is more than just a stopping point in pro wrestling as the city has produced many a superstar in the sport. WWE stars such as The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Johnny Gargano and Dana Brooke all call Cleveland their hometown. Local legends such as Kano Josh Emmanuel, J-Rocc Daddy, Shane Taylor and the great J.T. Lightning created a new generation of future stars.

Extreme Fight World (EFW for short). This new promotion will step away from the traditional way of pro wrestling and will add new elements such as weight classes and judges for each match. I spoke with one of the owners Justin Beavers and here’s what he had to say.

“We wanted to set ourselves apart from other promotions. We will mix wrestling with MMA. Judges will score matches accordingly, and there will be weight classes (lightweight, middleweight, heavyweight). We are going to make it an entertaining show yet do our best to bring back the sport aspect of professional wrestling.”

We also spoke with head trainer and Cleveland Pro Wrestling legend J-Rocc Daddy and got his words.

“I’m excited to help bring in a new generation of young and talented pro wrestlers. I have over 20+ years of experience. I can’t wait to get started.”

We were also lucky enough to get some of the new rules for an EFW match. Each match will be judged by a panel who will score the contest based on aggression, control, pinfall attempts and submission attempts.
