Expert Opinon: OLB/DE Breeland Speaks’ Profile

Experts are not really sure where Breeland Speaks is going to play in the NFL. His is 6’3″ and 285 points, but that’s too big for a linebacker, yet too small for the defensive line.

At the Combine, he dashed a 40 of 4.87, 32.5-inch verticle and a 110-inch broad jump. Last season for Ole Miss, he had 67 tackles, eight for a loss and seven sacks. This kid can clearly play at the next level.

While he has a great attitude and plays with a fiery attitude, that needs to stay in check in the NFL.  He was ejected twice last year, once for targeting and once for unsportsmanlike penalties. If channeled correctly, that can be used in a productive way en route to a great NFL career. Just look at crazy linebackers like Ray Lewis.

If Speaks can fix some of his inconsistencies, he has the potential to play in the NFL. However, he definitely will not hear his name called for some time.
