Chicago- The Indians dropped their 4th straight game Wednesday night, as they were swept by the White Sox for the first time this year. The Indians bats were quiet again as they only managed to plate 2 runs. The Indian’s first run was thanks to a Jason Giambi solo home run in the 2nd Inning. Chicago scored 1 run in each of the 7th, and 8th innings, to take a 2 -1 lead. In the 9th Yan Gomes hit an RBI single scoring Michael Brantley who reached on an infield single to lead off the inning. In the bottom of the 9th Tyler Flowers worked a 14 pitch at bat off of Bryan Shaw which resulted in a ground ball to the 3rd baseman Mike Aviles. Aviles made a low throw, and Chisenhall was unable to corral it, which gave the White Sox their lead-off base-runner. Leury Garcia: a speedy second baseman for the White Sox pinch ran for Flowers and Quickly stole second. A Sac Fly moved him over to 3rd, which was when Moises Sierra hit a game winning walk-off single to give the White Sox a 3-2 victory over the Indians, and complete the 3 game sweep.
Bourn Hits 1,000: Michael Bourn hit his 1,000th career hit tonight,a single into right field. Bourn’s milestone came off of Hector Noesi in the 6th inning.
Brantley continues to surge: Brantley extended his hitting streak to 14 games Wednesday night. He went 2-4 with a run scored, and has gotten his average up to .310.
