Despite The Loss, the Cavs are Still a Strong fighting Team

The sign of a healthy team is a team that continues to compete and keeps on fighting until the end of the game.

Tuesday night versus the Memphis Grizzlies, the Cavs lost at home in a close game 110 to 106. The Grizzlies have now won six straight and seven of their last 10.

The Cavs are now 21-17 in the win-loss column following the loss. However, they are 6-4 in their last 10 games but fell to 6th place in the eastern conference.

Rising star Darius Garland led the Cavs with 27 points despite the losing effort while dishing out 10 assists. Going tit for tat against Grizzlies star Ja Morant who contributed 26 points to lead his squad.

In a losing effort, the Cavs still received key contributions from Jarrett Allen with 22 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. In addition, Kevin Love added 18 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes of play and Evan Mobley scored 17 points while pulling down eight rebounds and two rejections.

This season, the Cleveland Cavs and the Memphis Grizzlies are the top two surprise teams. According to a season prediction from NBA insiders, the Grizzlies were predicted to finish 42-40 for the season before the season began. Right now, they are sitting at a 25-14 record – on pace to win 53 games instead.

The Cavs, sitting at 21-17, were predicted to have a 26-56 record by the end of this season. However, if the Cavs keep their current pace, they could finish with 45 wins, 19 more than predicted.

The Cavs’ next game is Friday in Portland against the Trailblazers. Hopefully, Cleveland can get back to their winning ways as they hope to have a good portion of our lineup back in the fold and guard Rajon Rondo added to the team. According to ESPN’s power index, they are favored with a 69% chance to win the game.

It is safe to say the Cavs will continue exceeding expectations this season. How well will they do this season….? I’m excited to sit back with my large butter popcorn, a box of Dots candy, and a large soft drink in hand and see. What about you? What are your expectations for the Cavs season?
