Deshaun Watson and Browns Defense give Cleveland first win of the 2023 season

Happy Victory Monday Cleveland!!! Our Cleveland Browns secured the win week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals to move 1-0 on the season. This is the first time the Browns have won back-to-back opening games since 1993-1994. This is also the first time the Browns have won in week 1 at home since the 2004 season when they defeated the Ravens 20-3.

Looking at this game as a whole, the Cleveland defense was aggressive throughout the entire game. The defense bullied Bengals QB Joe Burrow the entire game. On both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, the Browns were calm and had full control over the Bengals the entire game.

Now, let’s talk about our franchise QB Deshaun Watson. For one thing, it was a rainy day, so the passing game was not the best. Watson eventually eased into the game and controlled our offense with some help from HB Nick Chubb.

With the slow start, Watson had a great drive before going into the half completing a couple of passes and then audibling into a QB keeper touchdown. Watson’s stats for the game were 16/29 with a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, and one interception from a tipped pass.

For the first game of the season, I am impressed with everything the Browns have done so far. The next game is in Pittsburgh against the Steelers on Monday Night Football. The Browns have to continue this momentum and grab another must-win divisional match-up.

We will see what the Browns and Watson can do. I am happy with the results so far. Until this next game, we have the right to enjoy our victory this week. Let’s Go Browns!!!
