Derrick Rose Contemplating Retirement

Per a report by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Adrian Wojnarowski, Derrick Rose has taken a leave of absence from the team to re-evaluate his future in the NBA.

“Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose has left the team and is seriously re-evaluating his future in the NBA, league sources told ESPN.

There is growing uncertainty inside and outside the franchise about whether he will return to the team, league sources said.

Rose has missed 11 of the Cavs’ 18 games this season, including the past seven because of a sprained left ankle. Rose’s increasing frustration with injuries is causing him to question his desire to continue playing, league sources told ESPN.”

Rose has missed the majority of the season for the Cavs and is still recovering from an ankle injury he suffered on October 20th against the Bucks. The most recent injury has left him extremely frustrated and has taken a toll on him mentally. Rose has been non-communicative to multiple people both inside and outside the Cavs organization over the last few days, according to the report by ESPN.

This is tough to hear about for not only Derrick Rose’s basketball career, but also his personal life. Everybody wants to see a resurgence for the former MVP. I hope he’s able to get healthy and come back to the Cavs. The team has no point guard depth without him.
