“I don’t know if I’d say I’m okay with it, but I have come to accept and understand the reasons they have for doing it. Coming into the offseason, and following the acquisition of Hue Jackson as head coach, the media and people in the NFL expected the Browns to do what they always do. Which, to put it bluntly, is to put a bandaid on a bullet wound. If we’re being honest, since the return in ‘99, the Browns have been mediocre at best and unwatchable at worst. However, with the direction that Hue Jackson and the new regime want to go, they realized that they had to sacrifice a couple seasons and players who people loved, in order to start fresh. Teams in the NFL have repeatedly proven that in order to gain success, some sacrifices must be made. While watching the players that left succeed elsewhere will hurt, it was necessary to start entirely fresh.”

“I am okay with losing all of these players, IF, and only if, we have a plan in place and can draft successfully. We let a lot of talent go, but it was older talent and the rebuild is going to take time. So those guys probably weren’t gonna be here by the time we were good anyway.”
