The Cleveland Browns traveled to Baltimore to take on their bitter rivals, the Baltimore Ravens. Cleveland early on had the chance to take the lead, but kicker Chase McLaughlin missed a 46- yard field goal. It was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to put points up on the board. Cleveland committed a penalty as defensive tackle Malik McDowell hit Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as he was stepping out of bounds. A play like that is inexcusable, as that is a lack of focus and terrible football IQ. The Ravens came away with points on the board, as kicker Justin Tucker nailed a 52- yard field goal to give the Ravens a 3-0 lead.

The Browns were unable to get the ball moving, the Ravens’ next possession was able to march down the field. Cleveland’s defense did a great job as they held the Ravens to another field goal, as the lead was now 6-0 Baltimore. Cleveland wide receiver Jarvis Landry made a costly mistake, as he was in the wildcat formation. Landry looked to throw the ball, but felt pressure and tried to run the ball. Landry, unfortunately, was sacked and fumbled the ball which was recovered by Baltimore. Baltimore would give the ball back, as Lamar Jackson had his pass deflected and was caught by Browns’ cornerback Denzel Ward for an interception. The Browns would get on the board, as kicker Chase McLaughlin made a 46-yard field goal that hit the uprights and through to make it a 6-3 Baltimore lead. Browns safety Grant Delpit intercepted a pass from Jackson less than a minute before halftime. Baker Mayfield would then fumble the football that resulted in the Ravens recovering. Lamar Jackson was picked off the third time, as Rodney Harrison would give the Browns the ball back.

The Ravens would respond in the third quarter, as Lamar Jackson had to backpedal and was able to float a pass to tight end Mark Andrews for a 13- yard touchdown pass to push the Ravens lead to a 13-3 lead. NBC announcer Cris Collinsworth mentioned that Myles Garrett shook Lamar Jackson’s hand after that touchdown. I understand that was a great play, but you don’t shake hands with the man. You are a professional athlete, and during the heat of the battle, your primary focus is, to physically dominate your opponent. Later in the game, Baker Mayfield would hook up with tight end David Njoku on a 20 – yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 13-10 Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson would continue to struggle as Lamar heaved a pass down the field for Mark Andrews, Browns’ cornerback John Johnson leaped in the air, and as he came down, the ball bounced off of Mark Andrews and into the hands of John Johnson. Cleveland was unable to push the ball down the field. Once the Ravens got the ball back, they milked the clocked, and Justin Tucker added a 49- yard field goal to put the game away. The Ravens defeated the Browns 16-10, which was a very sloppy game by both teams. The Browns’ offense was the main reason they lost, as Cleveland’s defense did an incredible job causing Lamar Jackson to turn the ball over five times. It is a tough pill to swallow, as Cleveland now seats at 6-6 and will have a bye week. The Browns will host the Ravens the following weekend. Will they get revenge, or will they falter?
