Ohio State hosted Minnesota yesterday in a Big Ten conference matchup. The Golden Gophers won in their previous contest as they edged Penn State. Ohio State had a big win against the Michigan Wolverines on the road. Early on, Ohio State and Minnesota were evenly matched as they exchanged points on both ends of the court. Shortly after, both teams became careless with the ball and gave up easy turnovers that turned into points. At the end of the half, Minnesota was up by a small margin of two points, 25-23.

Jamari Wheeler got the Buckeyes offense started as he knocked down a three-pointer at the start of the second half. Ohio State expanded their lead as freshman guard Malaki Branham hit a three-pointer from the right corner of the court. Ohio State’s defense created more scoring opportunities later in the game. Ohio State was shooting lights out from behind the three-point line, as they made four of four around the 14 minute-mark. Ohio State continued to pressure the Golden Gophers, which caused more turnovers and led to fast breakpoints. Ohio State was dominant from inside the paint, as at one point in the game, Ohio State had 26 points in the paint compared to Minnesota’s 12 points in the paint.

Ohio State was running away with the game.

The only question was how much they would outscore their opponent. Ohio State would close out the game by a score of 70-45. Ohio State had three players score double-digit points. Jamari Wheeler had 13 points, Malaki Branham had 11 points, and E.J. Liddell added 16 points. With the win, Ohio State has 16 wins and six losses. Ohio State sits in 4th place in the conference with nine wins and four losses. Ohio State is looking for a third-straight win when they host Iowa this Saturday.
