On Monday, March 26, 2018, the city of Cleveland, Ohio got rocked when WWE Monday Night Raw at Quicken Loans Arena (The Q). This was an important event in the world of the WWE because we are just 12 days away from the big event of the year, Wrestlemania 34 down in New Orleans at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

The main event of Wrestlemania 34 will be for the universal championship between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Last week in Dallas, after Reigns was arrested for trespassing because Reigns had temporarily been suspended, so Lesnar went out and absolutely brutalized Reigns. So badly, in fact, that Reigns had to be taken to the local hospital. This week, Lesnar’s oral advocate, Paul Heyman, announced that Reigns’ suspension had been lifted. Heyman was also saying that Roman Reigns was not there, however, this was not the case. Instead, Reigns walked up to the ring, although not at 100% Reigns walked up to the ring with a steel chair in hand. But instead of waiting for Reigns to come and attack, Lesnar came out of the ring and absolutely bull rushed Roman Reigns. Reigns came back and started slamming a steel chair down on Lesnar. But then Lesnar came back and dropped Reigns rib-first onto the steel steps.

After that skirmish to kick off the night, another rivalry followed. This time it was on the women’s side, between Raw women’s champion Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax. The two of them will meet at Wrestlemania on April 8, in New Orleans. But in this matchup, it was Alexa’s sidekick Mickie James who would be facing Jax. Now, the reason a rivalry has formed between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax is that two weeks ago, Alexa came out and said that she was using Nia and that she was not actually friends with Jax. James started going right after Nia Jax, specifically Nia’s bad knee, but it still would not be enough. The reason is that Nia Jax used a Samoan drop to close the match. After the match was over, Alexa Bliss came into the ring and hit Jax with a cheap shot and then quickly ran out of the ring realizing the mistake she had just made. But Alexa Bliss will meet Nia Jax at Wrestlemania in New Orleans on April 8 for the RAW Women’s championship.

Another matchup that happened featured that happened featured one half of The Bar. The Bar is made up of Cesaro and Sheamus “The Celtic Warrior”. They will face Braun Strowman and a partner at Wrestlemania for the tag team championship. But Braun Strowman has yet to name his partner for the matchup. On this night Strowman was facing Sheamus. Before the match, The Bar tried to get Strowman to admit who his partner is so that Sheamus and Cesaro could prepare better for the match. But Braun Strowman didn’t reveal anything to keep The Bar in the dark. Early in the match, Sheamus was going in and out of the ring. But eventually he did step into the ring to face Strowman and Sheamus hung tough for a while. But eventually, the bigger and stronger Braun Strowman took over and pinned Sheamus for the victory. Strowman’s victory kept the Bar in the dark for their matchup at Wrestlemania on April 8.

“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey showed up in the ring with her partner Kurt Angle to do a little bit of trash talking before their matchup with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania when Ronda makes her WWE debut. But Ronda was interrupted by Absolution. The leader of Absolution made Ronda an offer to have Rousey be the fourth member of Absolution. But Ronda said no and then turned around and beat up two of the three members of Absolution.

The highlight of the night was the No Disqualification match between John Cena and Kane. This matchup was set up because in Dallas on March 19, 2018, Cena was trying to initiate a matchup with Kane’s brother, The Undertaker, at Wrestlemania. However, John Cena went to the extent of calling the Undertaker a coward, and so Kane came out and choke slammed John Cena. In this no disqualification match, both competitors were allowed to use props like tables and barricades and take the match outside of the ring. This is exactly what happened. Kane actually sent John Cena face first into the broadcasting booth. Both men sent the other person through a table. Kane tossed Cena onto a barricade and it nearly broke. Cena was also imitating the Undertaker by sitting up after being rammed into, just like the Undertaker does. Cena also did the Undertaker’s famous hand slicing throat motion. John Cena eventually won the match by sending Kane through a table and then getting the 3 count. After the match, John Cena was once again trying to draw the Undertaker out of hiding and get an answer to his Wrestlemania challenge. But still, nothing happened. Will the Undertaker come out of hiding and respond to John Cena? We will have to wait until Monday, April 2, 2018, to find out.

Monday Night Raw was full of surprises, from The Miz and the Miztourage setting up a trap for Seth Rollins and Finn Balor ahead of their intercontinental championship match at Wrestlemania, to Absolution trying to lure Ronda Rousey into being the fourth member. To the highlight of the evening and the night capper, which was the no disqualification matchup featuring Kane and John Cena. The crowd was electric the entire night and it is definitely something I would go see again.
