The Cleveland Browns and their star running back Nick Chubb have agreed on a three-year contract extension worth $36 million including $20 million guaranteed. This keeps Chubb a Cleveland Brown through the 2024 season.
This is a huge early training camp development as many analysts of the Browns have been speculating when some major players like Chubb and Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield would agree on a second contract with the Browns. Chubb’s deal is the first of hopefully several dominoes to fall in that area. Does Mayfield now agree to sign his next big contract now that Chubb has made his deal?
Chubb’s deal will pay him a little over $12 million a season, a very comfortable boost over his current $3 million a year contract. This new deal will now make him the 9th highest-paid running back in the NFL. Considering he’s easily a top-five running back in the league, this new deal again shows how important winning and being a team player means to Chubb.
After finishing with over 1067 yards a year ago and 12 rushing touchdowns during the regular season, despite missing four games a year ago, he is running up the Browns history board of Browns running backs of all time via total yards rushing. The great Marion Motley (4712 yards) and Kevin Mack (5123 yards) could be overtaken by Chubb by the season’s end.
