Two-Pointer – A Cleveland Browns Conspiracy Theory

Did you see that two-point conversion attempt that the Cleveland Browns failed to make while down 31-29 at the end of the fourth quarter against the Tennessee Titans?

Well, take a look at this. Hope it doesn’t make you go blind:

What the *insert expletive* was that play?

There are so many things wrong with it, starting with not playing quarterback Shedeur Sanders, to the wacky end-around attempt and then the pass back as well. It was all horrible and it resulted in the Browns taking a loss against a team that was 1-11 and coming to our own stadium expecting a victory of their own.

So, I decided to have a little fun with this conspiracy. Let me be clear that I have no actual evidence of this and it’s simply that – conspiratorial

First, take a look at this after the Browns’ loss regarding the upcoming NFL Draft order:

Anyway, with the Browns starting to regain the lead in the Titans game and evetually be only down two points with a chance to tie, I have this belief that owner Jimmy Haslam and/or GM Andrew Berry literally found a way to call down and talk to coach Stefanski with this pending tie about to happen that could’ve allowed to Dawgs to battle back in overtime for a win.

Honestly, losing would’ve done what for the Browns? ONLY GOOD in regard to the draft order.

What does winning do?

Yay. A victory against a terrible team that didn’t really prove anything at all. Had the team won, the thoughts and feelings about Sanders would’ve stayed with everyone regardless. Sure, they would’ve technically avoided being eliminated from the playoffs, but that is silly to even think about…

Thus, that play has me convinced that something was up on that attempted conversion.

Even more so, another thought is that maybe the front office guaranteed Stefanski his job for next year as head coach to make that intentionally dumb play to lose.

Now, do I have evidence of that occurring?

No.

That could’ve just been one of the worst plays seen in the history of football, especially with a tie score on the line at the very end of the game.

Let’s hope that whoever the Browns pick in the first round makes the most of this tanking and helps the team become better in the coming years.
