CLE All Star Weekend Sparks LeBron RE-Return Thoughts

It never seems to end, does it?

This dude named LeBron James coming to play for the Cavaliers here in Cleveland. From getting drafted in 2003 to 2014 in a dramatic return from the Miami Heat to what could be a return to finish off this historic career, LeBron can’t stay in one place!

Currently, LeBron is 37 and playing for the Los Angeles Lakers after leaving the Cavs in free agency after four championship runs including the historic 2016 title run!

Despite his age, LeBron averages 29.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists for Los Angeles. However, the team as a whole is struggling with a record of 27-31. They just don’t seem to click and sit at 9th in the Western Conference.

Many fans of the Cavaliers would argue that this team doesn’t need the presence of LeBron James on it in the coming years. Right now, the Cavs sit at 35-23 and are 4th in the Eastern Conference standings. Chicago, Miami and Milwaukee are ahead of them.

This Cavaliers team is a fun bunch to watch that appear to play really well together. This would ultimately be a decision that the front office would have to make this off-season.

First of all, does LeBron even want to re-sign here in Cleveland to finish off his career? If he does, are the Cavs willing to sign him for the extreme amount of money it’ll cost? Finally, how would a player like LeBron fit in with the rest of the squad? The Cavs are building something special here and would LeBron do more to help or even hurt in the coming season?

James could serve as a leader and a mentor for a team that is filled with a plethora of young players still learning how to thrive in the league. That would be something special to watch if it all worked together.

Ultimately, LeBron has done so much for Cleveland, the Cavaliers and this entire league since entering in ’03. It would be fitting for him to finish it all off and retire as a member of the Wine & Gold by playing his final seasons with the Cavs. The number of years would be up to him!

The All-Star Game here in Cleveland features two current members of the Cavs in PG Darius Garland and PF Jarrett Allen that will get the chance to play with LBJ.

Note, as captain, LeBron wanted Garland on his all-star team

Some could argue that Cleveland is building a legacy post-LeBron and would prefer to continue on without him on the team here in Cleveland.

My opinion?

Bring LeBron home! Let him finish it off here! The worst case is he retires and the team continues on when his career is over in a few seasons.
