CF Michael Bourn Will Start The Season On The 15 Day DL

Indians fans heard some unfortunate news about our start outfielder. CF Michael Bourn will start the 2014 season on the 15 day DL. Bourn, entering his 9th year, definitely had a disappointing first season here in Cleveland. His batting average was his lowest since a 2008 year with the Astros at .263. Additionally, he stole 19 less bases than his did in 2012 with the Braves, 42 t0 23.

This year is poised to be a turn around year for the career .271 speedy center fielder. It’s just unfortunate that he’ll have to start it on the DL.

[blockquote]”Bournie is getting closer to being game ready, but he’s just not at that point yet and we want to be able to build his innings and his game progression so when he comes back he’s ready to impact the team.”[/blockquote]

If this left hamstring and other ailments continue to bother Michael Bourn, we could be in store for another year of underproduction. I wouldn’t dare label Bourn a bust yet, but I’m pressed to see him play well as a member of the Tribe. Let’s just hope his hammy starts to feel better, and he really gets into a groove this year. After all, the 31 year old is #9 on Baseball Tonight’s top center fielders. He does have talent!

Get well soon, Michael. We need ya!
