Browns CB Greedy Williams Activated and What it Means

The Cleveland Browns announced they had brought cornerback Greedy Williams off of injured reserve for their Week 6 matchup against the New England Patriots at First Energy Stadium. The 2-3 Browns are coming off a very disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at the stadium this past Sunday and this will undoubtedly be a nice addition to a defense that can use any type of help.

Williams started his career with the Browns after being drafted in the 2nd round (46th overall) out of LSU. In 28 total games,  the 24-year-old has 88 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

The cornerback did not play in all of 202o with a shoulder injury. However, it was a hamstring injury that kept him out of the first five games of the season. Clearly, while it’s great to have Williams back, he’s going to have to focus on staying healthy if he wants any chance of success in the NFL moving forward with the Browns.

When pinpointing what is wrong with the Browns, one would likely say it’s the run defense that is the worst part of the team. After all, in last week’s game, the Dawgs gave up a whopping 238 rushing yards total. That is just completely inexcusable.

Even so, the addition of Williams for pass defense will be helpful. This is especially true with cornerback Denzel Ward out with a concussion. Hopefully, Williams can take the place of Ward and help the Browns stop the Patriots this week from throwing the ball downfield.

Pop quiz! What is Greedy Williams’ actual name? The answer to that is, “Andraez Montrell Williams.”

Welcome back, Greedy and best of luck to you on the field and staying healthy with this team here in Cleveland with the Browns.
