The Cleveland Cavaliers losing to the New Orleans Pelicans wasn’t the worst of Tuesday evening news. In said game, point guard Ricky Rubio sustained a knee injury that took him out of the contest. After getting an MRI, news was received that Rubio sustained a torn ACL.
He’ll now be out for the remainder of the season.
On August 3, 2021, Rubio was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Taurean Prince, a 2022 second-round pick, and cash considerations.
For the Cavs this season, Rubio averaged nightly 13.1 points, on 36.3% shooting (33.9% from deep), 4.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.4 steals. He truly seemed to fit in well with this squad after many years with the Timberwolves, Jazz and Suns since coming into the league in 2011.
This team is already without PG Collin Sexton and this injury is going to make things even more difficult for the Wine & Gold.
We wish Ricky the best in his recovery and hope to see him healthy and playing next year!
