I know it, you know it and I am certain the players know it, too. At 1-10 on the season, the Cavs are the worst team in the league after reaching the NBA Finals last year. It goes to show just how impactful Jeff Green was last year. Okay, bad joke.
Typically, slogans for a good team are really cool. I remember back when I was a kid the “Rise Up” slogan and the shirts the Cavs would have in the stands at the playoffs games back in LeBron’s first stint here in Cleveland. Then, of course, the “Whatever it Takes,” “All In” and “Defend The Land” mantras over the years more recently.
Anyway, this year’s slogan is “Be the Fight” and it is absolutely cringe-worthy to even have a slogan when the team is this bad. This team has a worse fight than Apollo Creed did vs. Ivan Drago in Rocky IV…and we all know how that ended. The fact that their PR team continues to use this slogan on social media is awful and needs to stop.
I am asking for the team to retire the slogan. Stop using it. This team is not fighting anything. I have and always with love the Cavs, LeBron James or not, but with this slogan, it’s like a situation when one of your friends needs to tell you that the girl is just not into you and you gotta stop trying to talk to her.
Someone needed to say it and I will.
