The Cleveland Cavaliers and their guard Darius Garland have a bright future ahead. Garland was rewarded for his good season as he was selected to a very impressive group of young NBA players that will be competing and helping the USA National Men’s Basketball Team prepare for play at the Olympics this upcoming September in Tokyo, Japan.
Garland and 16 other players were selected to the USA Basketball Select Team that will basically be the team that will scrimmage the USA National Basketball Team.
It’s a nice nomination for Garland who’s season went well as he improved across the board for the Cavs. He increased his season’s point average to 17 points and more importantly, averaged over six assists a game.
I’ve always believed watching Garland’s progress that the former Vanderbilt one year wonder, would begin to get more recognized for his improvements over the last two seasons.
Now, Garland will get to compete against the best of the best in preparing the National Basketball Team for the Olympics and that’s exciting and that can only help Garland and the Cavs next season.
With the Cavs getting to draft 3rd in this year/s NBA Draft at the end of July, the Cavs are certainly getting better and having Garland getting special recognition is a very good sign as well. Maybe by the next Summer Olympics in 2024 in Paris, France, Garland will be selected to the USA National Basketball Team.
