Cavaliers Guard Ricky Rubio Announces Retirement, Cavs Buyout Contract

Cleveland Cavaliers Guard Ricky Rubio has decided to announce his retirement from the NBA. With this happening the Cavs have decided to agree to buy out his contract. Rubio first stepped away from the franchise a while back due to mental health reasons.

Earlier today (Thursday), both Rubio and the Cavs agreed on a contract buyout. This will cover $6.1 million left on this year’s contract and $6.4 million for the 2024-2025 NBA season.

While thanking all of the teams Rubio has played for throughout his career, he thanked Cleveland with more praise stating that he mentioned although things have been rough, this was his last home.

It is also rumored that if Rubio decides to play basketball again, he will play for his home country of Spain.

Rubio has built a reputation throughout the course of his career and some of his favorite teammates include Kevin Love and Donovan Mitchell.

We all wish you the best of luck, Ricky! You are always welcome in Cleveland!
