Cavaliers ( 37-22) @ Pacers (23-34)

The Cavaliers have only lost twice this month, once to the Bulls and another to the Indiana Pacers. The team that ended the fiery 12 game streak of the Cavaliers, and looks to end another Cavaliers streak. After a ferocious drubbing of the NBA-leading Warriors, the Cavaliers look to extend their streak to 5 games before the month is over. The Cavaliers were sluggish and lost a lead last time out against the Pacers, and many believe that the Cavaliers were almost “tired of winning.” The Pacers have picked up their pace of play, and are 7-3 in their last 10. Another bright spot for the Pacers, star forward Paul George, participated in full practice for first time since his August 1st injury.

The Cavaliers have stayed hot since the middle of January and are continuing their winning ways as they are 8-2 in their last 10. In the last matchup, most Cavaliers players under-performed and just quit at the end of the game. Look for a new and improved work ethic from the Wine and Gold this time around. Watch for an adjusted lineup for the Cavaliers as ESPN reports Kyrie Irving is doubtful for Friday’s contest due to a shoulder injury. Likewise for the Pacers, look for another player to possibly step up for the questionable C.J. Miles. Last time these two met up, Miles was fantastic in the Pacers’ 103-99 victory over the Cavs on Feb. 6. He had 26 points on 8/16 shooting, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Matchup to watch for:

Although it’s hard to see a position on the Pacers that may cause concern for the Cavaliers, we shouldn’t overlook ex-Cav C.J. Miles. Although the shooting guard slot for the Pacers isn’t that deep, Miles tends to play most of the game for the Pacers meaning he’ll have to face the offensive firepower we call J.R. Smith. Miles will also square up against the defensive-minded Iman Shumpert. Miles, who isn’t shooting the lights out this season, will be tested against both players. Playing against his former team might spur on an extra effort, as seen from the former Cavalier Sergey Karasev on the Brooklyn Nets. J.R. will look to continue his hot shooting and Iman will look to shut down Miles from start to finish.
