Cavaliers (40-25) @ Mavericks (41-24)
After almost losing a once 30+ point lead to the Suns on Saturday, the Cavaliers are rested and ready to start their four game road trip. The first stop is in Dallas, where they will face the hot and cold Mavericks. A team once revived with the arrival of All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo has simmered down and is now only 5-5 in their last 10. Rondo, a constant contributor, has played well below his normal standards and will be certainly tested come Tuesday when he battles it out with Kyrie Irving. Irving, coming off another All-Star appearance last month, should have no problem containing Rondo. This may be a statement game for Rondo if he shows up and performs at a high level.
Although the Mavericks had the Cavaliers number in the first game this season, the Cavaliers were without LeBron, J.R., Iman, or Timofey. Look for the newer pieces to make an instant impact. The last time the Cavs and Mavs faced off was on January 4th, the day before the trade for Shumpert and Smith was executed. It has been obvious that Shumpert, J.R. and Mozgov have made instant and lasting impacts on this team, and garner a different result when playing past opponents. With all the new pieces that the Cavaliers have acquired and being rebirthed with the return of The King, look for the Wine and Gold to use their newer pieces and split the season series with the Dallas Mavericks.

Matchup to Watch For:
This matchup was sorely missed by the Wine and Gold faithful due to the fact that LeBron wasn’t present for it. The matchup between two of the craftiest forwards in the Association, Parsons and James should make for one of the better matchups we’ve seen so far this season. Although Parsons shot horrid from the field in his lone contest against the Cavaliers this season in early January, look for Parsons to step his game up due to the arrival of King James. The contest against the Mavericks in early January was apart of James’ rest due to injury and soreness. Now while the matchup of Parsons and James has never been an eye opening affair, an up-and-coming Parsons will attempt to give LeBron fits on both ends of the floor. Look for a rejuvenated James to take charge and even the season series.
