Can the Cavs Build Momentum on the Road After Monday’s Win?

The Cleveland Cavaliers bounce back Monday night to defeat the Sacramento Kings on the road, 109-108.  They held off a late-game run from the kings, who were trying to avoid losing their fifth straight game.

The Cavs are now sitting at a 23-18 win-loss record, sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.  In addition, the Cavaliers improve to 12-9 on the road.

Leading the charge for the Cavs was center Jarrett Allen.  He scored 18 points, pulled down 17 boards, and had 2 blocked shots in this win.  Kevin Love also contributed off the bench in a big way, scoring 18 points in just 21 minutes of playing time.

The Cavs won this game with a balanced attack on offense, with six players scoring in double figures and another fell one short with nine points.  The team seems to be at their best when sharing the ball and getting everyone involved.

After feeling His Cavs played “timid” versus the Golden State Warriors on Sunday.  When asked about the team after Monday’s win, Coach said, “The team needs to be more sound with the basketball down the stretch and make smarter plays.”

Bickerstaff commented about the team’s offense, “It was great, in spurts.  Especially when we are running the floor and sharing the ball with one another.  Then there were times we got bogged down and tried to make difficult plays in traffic.”

Guard Darius Garland was bothered by back pain throughout the game.  Still, coach Bickerstaff was proud of him for going out and competing.  He scored 12 points on a rough shooting night and contributed 11 assists.

Cavs have another test ahead of them Wednesday in Salt Lake City versus the Utah Jazz.  They are currently 28-13, third place in the west, and looking to snap a 3-game losing skid.

Critics have said that they aren’t convinced of the Cavs success.  Instead, they are looking to see the team beat some of the top-tier teams in the league.

What do you think, can the Cavs build momentum on the road against the Jazz (a top-tier team in the league)?
