Today it was announced that the Browns have waived kicker Billy Cundiff and have signed former New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley. The news came after Cundiff suffered a knee injury, also topped with his recent struggles. This season, Cundiff was 22/28. His most recent stretch of 7/12 was a killer to the Browns, a team struggling to score in the first place. Finally, Cundiff has been abysmal from 50+ yards throughout his whole career.

Garrett Hartley successfully kicked 22/30 field goals for the Saints in 2013. He’s been in the league for 5 years, not kicking in 2012. This will be his first opportunity to kick for an NFL team in 2014. And the Browns could really use him.

Best of luck Garrett, but hopefully we’ll only need you for extra points!
