The Cleveland Browns move to 3-2 on the season after an upset over the San Francisco 49ers that nobody saw coming. The Browns snapped the 49ers’ 15-game regular season winning streak and handed QB Brock Purdy his first regular-season loss.
Jim Schwartz did an outstanding job with the Cleveland Browns defense as they absolutely shut down the 49ers throughout the game. Other than the opening drive and a few Browns offensive turnovers, the defense held their own. The 49ers have scored at least 30 points in their first five games of the season. In this game, the Browns only held San Francisco to 17 points.
QB PJ Walker had his first start with the Cleveland Browns with Deshaun Watson being out, and he showed confidence throughout the game. Even though Walker threw two interceptions, he never seemed to break his confidence. The offense did enough with a Kareen Hunt touchdown and four good field goals from Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins.
This win surprisingly moves the Browns to 3-2 instead of 2-3. As a diehard Browns fan, this feels amazing seeing the 49ers walk out of Cleveland with their heads down. The winds of Lake Erie were a huge help in this win at the end.
Lastly, with a 3-2 record, the Browns are very much alive in the AFC North. The Browns avoid being in last place with the win and are only down half a game to Baltimore for first place. The Browns control their own destiny. I am hoping this win can lead to a major winning streak which would put the Browns in a great position.
