Johnny Manziel: Are The Browns Up To Something?

I’ve got a huge problem with the fact that Browns GM Ray Farmer was not at Johnny Manziel’s pro day on Thursday. I don’t care about that fact that we’re clearly not set on drafting him. The kid is too much of a talent to just flat out miss.

From the reports, he did an absolutely amazing job throughout the whole workout. His footwork, body control and passes were all executed with perfection. Amazingly, out of all his throws only two balls touched the turf. He finished the afternoon off with a 60 yard strike that was right on line. The ball flew across the field in a beautiful tight spiral right into his receiver’s outstretched arms.

Then, I came up with an explanation. I hope the Browns are doing this.

Cleveland is trying to set themselves up to be the dark horse that takes ends up taking Johnny Football in the draft. This “we don’t want him” ploy is to get other teams to “X” the Browns off of their lists of threats.

A team wouldn’t feel the need to trade up to one, two or three to get the former Aggie if the orange and brown had no interest. Thus, Cleveland would be able to snag him with the fourth pick if he were to drop a few slots. It’s definitely a manipulation tactic, and a good one at that.

Me personally? I’d like to select Clemson wideout Sammy Watkins with the fourth overall pick. However, if I ran the team there’s no way in hell I wouldn’t be standing behind Johnny watching him throw that football at his pro day. He’s just too great of a talent.

If the Browns are just being stubborn, that’s a complete joke judging by the fact that we haven’t had a winning season since 2007.

I say, respect the player and watch him play.
