Despite several positive tests to both players and team officials of the Tennessee Titans as well as to Patriots QB Cam Newton, the Browns, along with most other NFL teams, are set to play in their Week Four matchup.
The recent outbreak among the Titans has prompted many questions on the future of the 2020 season. Although not registering any positive tests, the Minnesota Vikings shut down their practice facility for several days after previously playing against the Titans. Several games have had to be moved around and several teams’ bye weeks have been altered in order to accommodate the change of schedule in order to make up the games.
With the NFL’s inability to create a bubble, positive tests are not a huge surprise and could pose a serious threat to the league if they persist. The league has floated around the idea of putting players in hotels, as the NBA and NHL did. However, it may get difficult to make an agreement with the NFLPA.
Whatever the case may be, the outbreak will soon spread from the Titans if not contained. The season is at stake unless a deal can be made.
